AfriSMC, like all the other SMCs around the world is designed to work help science journalists improve coverage of science issues. This requires close collaboration with the experts in various scientific and engineering fields who are able and willing to communicate effectively and with the journalists in a timely manner. Thus, the AfriSMC is building a database of experts who would be able to provide expert opinion on their subjects to the journalists when need arises. Experts will be requested to provide comments on headline issues that will be availed to the journalists through our rapid expert opinion portal.

The center will also help experts find experienced journalist to share their stories. Click below to become a member of this elite group of scientists and engineers impacting lives through effective communication with the media. For scientists with little media experience, the Center will liaise with like-minded organizations and media houses to avail them capacity building opportunities.
